YOUR COMMENTS ARE REQUESTED.....

I POSTED THIS E-MAIL SENT TO ME, IN THE PREVIOUS ENTRY.  I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR YOUR OPINIONS.

THIS INDIVIDUAL SAID SOME NICE THINGS ABOUT THIS JOURNAL.  HOWEVER, TO ME, HE SAYS I HAVE TO CHANGE MY ATTITUDE.  I THINK HE IS WRONG, AND HAVE BEEN VERY SUPPORTIVE TO JIMMY FOR THE PAST 3.4 YEARS.  FOR ALL OF YOU WHO REALLY DON'T KNOW ME, I HAVE BEEN A RECLUSE FOR THE PAST 3.4 YEARS, WAITING FOR MY HUSBAND. I DEDICATED EVERY MOMENT TO JIMMY, AND HE DEDICATED EVERY MOMENT TO ME....... NOW, I AM VERY HAPPY, AND LIFE IS PROCEEDING ALONG.................WELL, EVERYBODY IS ENTITLED TO THEIR OWN OPINION IN LIFE................I HOPE AFTER THIS INDIVIDUAL SPENT TIME IN PRISON, THAT HE IS NOW A PRODUCTIVE INDIVIDUAL................FRAN

PS....IN ANSWER TO A COMMENT, JIMMY CAME HOME LAST MONDAY, ON 7/17.  AND HE IS COMING HOME TOMORROW , ON SATURDAY....WE ARE HAVING A WONDERFUL TIME TOGETHER...........

I have no doubt that you are supportive and loving of your husband for that is beyond clear, but I don't think you should have made yoruself a recluse from the entire world either for you shouldn't have had to pay for Jimmy's mistakes anymore than you already did by having him locked up.  Just my thought on the issue...

My thoughts on the whole thing are this...I do believe that prisoners would benefit greatly with some sort of rehabilitation program so that when they are released they have tools to use within themselves that may help them live productive lives outside of prison and hopefully will not re offend.

I do not believe that the prisoners should have all the comforts of home while in there...they have chosen to break the law and have the consequences to pay for their actions...hardened criminals who have raped or murdered someone, it's hard to find sympathy for them that they are eating cold food or have to sleep on cement beds...or housed in tiny cells..I have not an ounce of sympathy...rather I feel for the family left behind that has to deal with what that criminal imposed upon innocent people and families...they are the true victims.

I know how dedicated you are to Jimmy and I always love reading your entries and I will be very happy once Jimmy is home and you both can get on with your lives...but he did in fact break the law in a bad way and I do feel he needs to pay for what he has done and he has for many years now...the life in prison isn't a comfortable one, but then when you choose to break the law you have to pay the consequences for it...

I don't believe you should have become a recluse when Jimmy went into prison.  We all understand your love and devotion, but you could have still had a life and remained devoted.

Fran, i have been reading your journal for over a year, i feel that this journal is your heart, it's your feelings. It is not open to discouragement. This journal is all of your feelings, it's your ups and downs and all the in betweens. I was offended that someone would write to you and say that sort of thing. You opened up your heart to the world. I feel that you deserve all your feelings you have every right to feel the way you do. I support you 100% i love this journal. I used to come to the computer everyday looking for your posts. It's so easy for people to look in from the outside an judge and tell you what you should or shouldn't do. But until they have walked a day in your shoes then they should keep very quite. I love you Fran and i know that you have done an awesome duty to wives and girlfriends and family memebers who have a loved one "inside". Thank you Fran for being your true self. Thank You for sharing your most inner feelings and hearts desires with us "strangers". Thank You Fran

Dear Fran.
Just finished reading his email. I agree with the reader. I personally do not feel sorry for my husband for doing time. He is there because of bad decisions he has made and he does not place blame on others but himself. However, your journal is your way of coping with his absence. And for someone to tell you that you should change your attitude is like telling you to live a lie. We, the wives of prisoners, cope in different ways. Lucky for me, I have my son that keeps me occupy and makes me stronger. You keep writing your thoughts and be true to yourself:)

Fran,
I know that elsewhere in your journal you have made us aware that Jimmy was prepared to own up to what he had done and do the time for the crime. So you are aware that on this point your e-mailer is correct. However, what you put in your own journal, charting your own feelings and experiences is not open to argument. Your honesty and sincerity has always shone through in the four months since I have begun following your difficult and lonely journey. knowing that people must pay for their crimes doesn't help those left at home to pick up the pieces. Your lonely journey is now nearly over, and it might be time to prepare for a busier life again, to start to gradually get back out in the world again. When you have your Jimmy back for good, I am sure he will appreciate it if you make the effort. He must be worried about your reclusive existence. I hope that you take this in the way that it was meant. I would like to hear that you are starting to get out more yourself. I am 100% behind you,
Best wishes,
Kate.
